在前瞻性材料中,價電子的分布可呈現與原子結構不一致的週期性,形成電荷、軌域或自旋有序排列。然而,傳統X光繞射並不容易量測到價電子分布的有序性。近年來科學界發展的軟X光共振散射實驗技術,是研究電荷、軌域以及自旋有序的實驗利器。本文介紹軟X光共振散射的基本原理與實驗裝置,並討論利用軟X光共振散射的研究範例。
The charge, orbital, or spin ordering of valence electrons in advanced materials can be incommensurate with the periodic structure of lattice. To detect such an ordering with conventional X-ray diffraction is difficult. Resonant soft X-ray scattering is a newly developed technique and sensitive to the charge, orbital, or spin ordering of valence electrons in transition-metal compounds. We present the basic principle, an experimental setup, and two examples of resonant soft X-ray scattering measurements.
