使用Timolol Maleate治療開放性隅角青光眼一年半之臨床經驗
One and Half Years Clinical Experience in the Treatment of Primary Open Angle Glaucoma with Timolol Maleate
摘要
Timolol maleate對開放性隅角青光眼之患者，具有降低眼壓的功能。在一年半的臨床經驗裏，單獨使用timolol而眼壓能控制者，只達50%(29/58)，若與其他葯物合併使用，其控制率方達76%，其副作用少，然可能對中樞神經系統產生較微不良反應，對眼部的副作用，有角膜感覺遲鈍，散在性點狀角膜病變，結合膜充血，然眼球無任何異狀，無角膜損傷或（疒贵）瘍發生，一般病人適應力佳。需審慎使用之，一經使用本葯，便需仔細追踪病情。

Timolol maleate solution is effective in the treatment of chronic open angle glaucoma. Its' action seems to be related primary to increase outflow facility of aqueous humor. After 18 months of treatment, 76% of patients achieved control of IOP. Approximately, half of these patients achieved the effect by using timolol alone. The side effects attributable to timolol maleate were central nervous system disorder such as disorientation and sexual importancy and ophthalmic signs such as loss of corneal sensation, diffuse punctate keratopathy and conjunctival hyperemia. Patients tolerate it well. We believe that timolol should therefore be considered as the treatment of choice in open angle glaucoma.
