Topical Norfloxacin in the Treatment of Ulcerative Keratitis

摘要

Norfloxacin屬較新型的quinolone抗生素製劑，具廣泛的抗菌效果。我們以Norfloxacin 0.3%局部點眼方式，對31名罹患潰瘍性角膜炎之病例進行臨床試驗，並依據病歷記載找出與實驗組病況類似，採用傳統抗生素，包括Cefamezine 5%，Gentamicin 1.4%及Amikacin 1.4%等，以高濃度局部點眼治療成功之病例，與之對照，並作一分析比較。結果發現單一Norfloxacin藥物治療之成功率達74.2%，特別是對2毫米以下之潰瘍治癒率更高達90%。與傳統抗生素高濃度治療結果比較，Norfloxacin具相同療效且副作用與點眼不適程度較低。作者認為Norfloxacin 0.3%點眼藥對治療潰瘍性角膜炎效果良好，尤其是在角膜潰瘍初期有極佳之療效。

In recent years, fluoroquinolone has been used as a single drug treatment for a variety of conjunctivitis and keratitis with satisfactory result. Norfloxacin, one of the fluoroquinolones, has been proven to be effective against most Gram-positive and-negative bacteria. We evaluated the efficacy of the commercially available norfloxacin eyedrops (Baccidal) as the sole topical antibiotic used to treat the ulcertive keratitis and compared the norfloxacin-treated group to a retrospective control group with conventional antibiotic theraphy such as cefamezine 5%, gentamicin 1.4%, amikacin 1.4%, etc. The successful rate of the single norfloxacin-treated group is 74.2%, and rise to 90% in the treatment of smaller ulcerative keratitis with diameter below 2mm. Besides, the single norfloxacin-treated group is as effective as the group of conventional antibiotic theraphy and with minor side effects and discomfort. Our results show that the 0.3% norfloxacin is effective in the treatment of ulcerative keratitis.
