以分光光度儀(Spectrophotometer)偵測軟式隱形眼鏡上不可見的沉積物

摘要


軟式隱形眼鏡上的沉積物,可能影響隱形眼鏡的清晰度,並刺激眼球產生不適,甚至造成眼睛的永久性傷害。由於有些沉積物不易由肉眼或細隙燈檢查出來。所以,我們嘗試使用分光光度儀(spectrophotometer)來偵測軟式隱形眼鏡上不可見的污染物。首先檢查不同廠牌的新片作為參考(reference)。再與同廠牌使用過的舊片78片做比較,發現百分之十三使用過但臨床檢查為正常的隱形眼鏡上,存在一些無法以可見光偵測的物質;進一步以病理切片染色法,也發現這些主要是隱形眼鏡表面的沉積物。而以一般的清洗方式處理之後,仍無法完全消除。

Soft contact lens (SCL) deposits may diminish the optical performance of the lens, cause ocular irritation, and possibly irreversible ocular changes. Nevertheless, some deposits were invisible and hard to be detected under slit lamp examination. In this study, we tried to use spectrophotometry to evaluate the deposits on 78 long-term used but otherwise clean-seeming SCLs. Same type new SCLs were used as reference. The spoilaged SCLs (13%) had nearly complete transmission under visible light range, but showed a high spike absorption over UV light spectrum (260-280mm). Under histological examination, a layer of deposit was found on the convex surface of SCL, which could not be completely removed after the conventional cleaning procedures.
