心性與天道-唐君毅先生的體會與闡釋

Mind, Human Nature and Way of Heaven-The Reinterpretation of Prof. Tang Chun-i

摘要


必、性,與天道是儒家哲學的中心觀念,它們在儒家來說是道德的根據,是文化的泉源,也是人與人、及人與宇宙萬物和諸感通的基礎。但心、性、天道的意義對現代人來說愈來愈模糊及愈來愈不可了解,唐君毅先生認爲,這是因爲現代人的心思全部向外看及向下望的關係,唐先生用他的生命的體會及反省,重新詮釋了心、性、天道的意義以及它們在人生中的地位,本文試圖用淺顯的易了解的語言方式介紹分析唐先生的詮釋,希望唐先生在其詮釋中所顯現的智惡與洞見對現代人能有所啓發。

Mind, Human Nature and the Way of Heaven are the central ideas of the philosophy of Confucianism. They are, for Confucianism, the foundation of morality, the root of culture and the ground of harmonious relationships between man and man and between man and the world. These ideas, however, have increasingly become more and more vague and insignificant in the modern world. since, according to Prof. Tang Chun-i, contemporary people have turned all their attentions in the direction of how to satisfy their desires and have therefore taken other people and the whole world as merely instruments for this purpose.Prof. Tang Chun-i has reinterpreted the ideas of Mind, Human Nature and the Way of Heaven and their relationships in terms of his own moral experience and reflection and has revived the significance and meaning of these ideas in human life. This article is to organize and present Prof. Tang's reinterpretation in a way which the author hopes is more understandable to the readers than the original texts of Prof. Tang so that his wisdom and insights in his reinterpretation could some light on the life of contemporary people.
