Postoperative Vertigo after Epidural Morphine for Acute Pain Management

摘要

給與鴉片類藥物作用於脊隨位置以為止痛並非沒有危險性，它存在著多種可能的副作用。我們報告一個不常見的併發症，一位68歲男性，由於colon cancer安排接受全身麻醉作low anterior resection與colostomy手術。手術將結束時，經由epidural catheter注入3 mg morphine藉以幫忙術後止痛。病患於給藥約8小時後開始出現vertigo徵候，這些症狀隨著morphine藥效作用時間過去，而自然消失。

Spinal morphine for analgesia is not without risk. There are a variety of complications. We reported an unusual side effect in a 68-yr-old male scheduled for low anterior resection and colostomy for colon cancer, who developed vertigo 8 hours later after epidural administration of 3 mg preservative-free morphine. The symptoms disappeared spontaneously following regression of the drug effects.
