This paper investigates replacement strategies for second-hand products with residual value under a finite planning horizon (FPH) from the consumer's perspective. Suppose that the second-hand product is replaced by a new product with free-repair warranty (FRW) and residual value within a FPH. Within the second-hand product usage period, any failure is corrected by minimal repair which incurs a fixed cost to the consumers. When the new product fails during FRW, minimal repair is performed for the failed product and the repair cost is free of charge to the consumers. After FRW, the failed product is repaired and incurs a fixed repair cost to the consumers. However, each failure incurs a fixed downtime cost to the consumers over a FPH. In this paper, the two models of the expected total disbursement cost within a FPH are derived and some properties of the optimal replacement strategy under some reasonable conditions are obtained. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate the features of the optimal replacement policy for the two models.
