The purpose of this study was to test the reliability and validity of a self-efficacy seale for health-related diet and exercise behaviors. There were three groups of subjects. (1) A sample of 125 working parents of junior college students. (2) A sample of 1147 participants working in urban areas. (3) A sample of 325 senior nursing students in a university. The results revealed that this scale had good internal consistency (Cronbach’s α=.93-.95) and test-retest reliability (r=.6745, p<.001) in different samples. The health-related diet and exercise behaviors scale could be divided into four aspects after principle component analysis. These factors were reducing calorie intake, healthy eating behavior skills, resisting relapse exercise behavior and resisting relapse of reducing fat and salt intake. The explained percentage of factor variance is 57.98%. The health-related diet and exercise behaviors scale is positively related to general self-efficacy, the attitude of healthy life, healthy life style and self-rated health status. The results revealed good construct validity and criterion-related validity. This scale can be utilized as a measurement tool in further study and practice.
