Along with the rapid progress of GIS performance, the ability of spatial analysis and manipulation has been promoted vastly. The product quality of map-design and representation has also in advanced, and it is much more effective on result's readability and explanation. In this paper, the design theory of quantitatively cartographic line data that is used in GIS analysis on Sofon river deposits variation that placed in Hualien, eastern Taiwan, will be discussed, as well as the process of visualization. The various methods of thematic map representation and cartographic animation had been used for presenting and explaining the complex environmental phenomena. Via the use of designed symbol system by this study, the visual efficiency of the results was more effective and better-legible.
