Autonomic Nervous System Dysfunction in Severe Tetanus: A Case Report and Review

Autonomic dysfunction in tetanus is a common event and has been postulated as a frequent cause of death. This report describes severe tetanus in a 71-year-old woman who developed sympathetic overactivity Although is is difficult to control symptoms, we demonstrate the effectiveness of diazepam, morphine, and a muscle relaxant in this clinical situation and present a revies of the various aspects of this disease.
