The most common site of hydrofluoric acid burns is the fingers. We report a case of a hydrofluoric acid burn on 3 fingers in which the diagnosis was delayed for 37 hours. This case was successfully treated with a mixture of xylocaine gel and ground calcium carbonate tablets. This supports the use of calcium carbonate gel in the treatment of digital hydrofluoric acid burns, even when treatment is delayed. Therefore we suggest a calcium carbonate-xylocaine gel mixture as the first choice of treatment for hydrofluoric acid burns.
