The Therapeutic Implication of Cyclooxygenase Inhibitors in the Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

The new millennium is likely to establish the type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) as one of the most prevalent diseases of mankind, and one of the most costly in its contributions to morbidity and premature mortality. Accordingly, how to manage the T2DM becomes one of the major issues in the field of health management. The aim of this paper reviewed the recent advances in the relationship of T2DM and inflammation, in particular the cyclooxygenase-mediated inflammation. The current applications of cyclooxygenase inhibitors and their therapeutic implication in T2DM has been exposed and extensively discussed in this article. This content may be of clinical importance for further development of therapeutic strategies to improve the treatment of T2DM and for worker's health promotion.
