細長鍛件預成形之橫楔輥模具電腦輔助設計

Computer Aided Design of a Cross Wedge Roll for Preform in Forging Slender Parts

摘要


類似汽車引擎連桿或底盤控制臂等細長形鍛件,均為相對困難鍛造成形的一種工件幾何,常須藉由一體積分配的預成形,以降低材料成本,同時可使後續模鍛製程較易達成。該細長形鍛件的體積分配工程常因幾何條件,須另於預成形機械上完成。除可應用輥鍛製程外,尚可應用橫楔輥製程完成預成形的分料工作。後者則因僅須一組模具且無夾持胚料的需求,在製程速度與耗用上均較前者為易且省,故有其應用優勢。雖然已有手冊可供設計模具參考,但仍不易掌握製程相關的設計參數,常須反覆修飾,始能完成差強人意的模具設計。鑒於應用軟體的日新月異,本文嘗試藉由Eratz工程顧問公司所研發的橫楔輥模具設計軟體RollCAD,應用其內建的製程參數資料庫,以引擎汽缸連桿鍛件為例,描述其預成形的橫楔輥模具設計步驟與軟體應用過程,以為相關業者於在細長形鍛件預成形的橫楔輥模具設計上參考。

Slender parts, such as connecting rods in automotive engines or control arms on automotive chasses, having complicated shapes are usually not easily made by forging. Frequently, it needs a process making a pre-form for volume distribution before the close die forging in order to reduce the blank material and have the subsequent forging processes efficiently. Roll forging is one of the methods making the pre-form. The other one is cross wedge rolling. The latter one generally needs only one die set and no gripper necessary to handle the part during rolling. Because of its less necessity of die sets, quick process time, and less material requirement, cross wedge rolling technologies have been extendedly inquired in making pre-form of slender forging parts. There are already plenty of articles and handbooks that can be used to design the dies for cross wedge rolling process, though. It is still hard to comprehend the die design parameters for a cross wedge rolling process. It constantly needs to back and forth modify the die geometry to get a passably satisfactory design. Recently Eratz Engineering, Germany, has developed a Computer Aided Design software RollCAD to help engineers to get rid of the misery during tool design for a cross wedge rolling process. This article is therefore aimed to introduce RollCAD in designing cross wedge rolling tools. With connecting rod used in automotive engine as a forging part, the article might help die makers in die design for the pre-form of slender forging parts.
