The Relationship between Teams' Specific Status Cues, Transactive Memory System, and Teams' Outcomes: A Moderated Mediation Model of Teams' Psychological Safety Climate

Teamwork and coordination of expertise among team members with different backgrounds are increasingly recognized as important for team effectiveness. To establish the ecological validity and generality of transactive memory system (TMS) research findings, this study sampled 769 members and 120 team leaders of 120 teams from a variety of organizational settings in Taiwan and examined the relationship between teams' specific status cues, TMS, team performance, and team creativity. Results showed that teams' specific status cues are positively related to TMS, and TMS positively predicts team performance and team creativity, whereas TMS also as a mediating role. Further, teams' psychological safety climate as a moderator in the relationship between teams' specific status cues and TMS. Finally, teams' psychological safety climate has moderated the indirect relationship between teams' specific status cues, TMS, and teams' outcomes. This research has further contribution to TMS theory and status characteristic theory in teams.
