The purposes of this study were to investigate the prevalence of pressure ulcers among patients from a medical center and to explore the possible factors associated with pressure ulcers. A cross-sectional survey with a total of 2520 adult was conducted in 1996. Demographic data were obtained and skin inspection was performed. The results showed similar prevalence of pressure ulcers to the previously reported figures in Taiwan. The current research suggested that the presence of pressure ulcers was significantly associated with mobility, disease category, disease history, department, and age.
