Neonatal lupus erythematosus (NLE), an immune-mediated disease with multisystem involvement in infants, is associated with the transplacental transfer of maternal autoantibodies. Discrete, annular, scaly, erythematous patches and plaques at photo-exposed areas are typical cutaneous lesions of neonatal lupus erythematosus. Cutaneous telangiectasia is also a key feature in neonatal lupus erythematosus. We retrospectively analyzed and followed 13 cases of NLE in National Taiwan University Hospital in the past 10 years. There is a total of five children who were noted to have prominent and persistent telangiectases at specific sites in the course of NLE.
