The Mutiny at Youzhou in 821: From the Perspective of Compiling Historical Records

摘要

唐穆宗長慶元年（821），唐廷抓住幽州藩帥劉總歸朝的機會，委派宣武軍節度使張弘靖出任盧龍軍節度使。但新幕府到幽州後僅不足兩月，就發生了囚藩帥，殺從事的軍變。傳統史籍由於客觀條件和主觀取向的限制，對這次兵變的記載並不詳確，造成後人對其起因的認識有所偏頗。筆者通過排比新、舊《唐書》、《資治通鑑》等相關史料，運用語境化的解讀方式，重新對事件本身及史籍的撰述方式作出評估。由此得出結論：該軍變為譁變性質，由弘靖幕府對幽州軍士處罰失當所引起，與所謂幽州過度「胡化」的問題關係不大。

By the imperial court, Zhang Hong-jing 張弘靖 was appointed as the new military governor of Youzhou 幽州 since Liu Zong 劉總, the former governor, paid allegiance to the court in 821 AD. After Zhang Hong-jing arrived at Youzhou, a rebellion occurred, in which he was kept in captivity and some of his officers were killed. The historical records of this event are neither detailed nor accurate due to the confines of the compilers' objective conditions and subjective intentions. This may lead to misunderstandings of the event. This paper re-arranges the records and adopts a close reading to evaluate them. We consider that the rebellion is a munity which occurred without premeditation, and it is triggered by the punishment upon an officer of Youzhou army. The so-called ”huhua 胡化” is unlikely relevant to this munity.
