In United States, the National Residency-Matching Program has been conducted for more than half a century; in contrast, residency-matching is a newly developed program in Japan. Both matching programs have their advantages and disadvantages and their participators have been working hard and continuously to improve these programs. Taiwan's social culture and medical environment are quite different from both the United States and Japan. As we plan to introduce our own residency-matching program, how we set about adjusting our program to our society and cultural background is a most important aspect of our deliberations. To do this, we need to gather information from society, listen to the stakeholders, develop the project carefully, evaluate progress aggressively, and improve the project at periodic intervals.
