摘要

生命倫理近年來受到我國教育界之重視，它屬於應用倫理學之一支，其發展不僅重視「理論」研究，更強調其「應用性」，即以解決生活中出現之倫理問題為其主要目標。美國生命倫理之發展已逾數十載，不少研究中心皆體認到兼顧理論與實務之重要性而開始推出「實習計劃」，以期促進學員對倫理議題之認識及加強實務操作，耶魯大學科際整合生命倫理中心舉辦之暑期實習計劃即是其中成功之例子。本文將介紹此中心及其暑期實習計劃，包括歷史、學員組成、課程結構、學術和參訪活動以及生活雜項等，筆者建議本國教育界可開辦類似之實習計劃，以求「建立跨學科討論之平台」、「提供國際學術交流與合作之渠道」、「縮短理論與實務之距離」以及「培養學生積極學習之態度」。

Bioethics, which has become a more and more important discipline in the field of education in Taiwan during recent years, belongs to one of the subfields of applied ethics. This means that, in addition to the theoretical development of this subject, the application of theory to the resolving of moral problems during daily life should also be recognized. These two aspects of bioethics, namely theory and the application of theory, have been emphasized by some academic centers in United States that have been developing bioethics for several decades. These centers provide internship opportunities, the purpose of which is the teaching to the interns of the main theories of bioethics, as well as providing the interns with the occasions necessary to practice these theories. The Summer Internship Program of Yale University's Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics is one of the most well designed and successful such programs. This paper introduces the Yale's Bioethics Center and its internship program; it includes the historical background, the make-up of the interns, the structure of the program, the academic and visiting activities associated with the program, and various organizational considerations. Additionally, the authors provide four recommendations for policy maker, namely ＜||＞building up forums for the interdisciplinary discussion of bioethics＜||＞, ＜||＞providing platforms for international discussion and collaboration on bioethics＜||＞, ＜||＞narrowing the gap between theoretical studies and their application＜||＞, and ＜||＞encouraging local students to study bioethics with enthusiasm＜||＞. It is hoped that the introduction of the Yale's internship program and these reflections on it will create instructive discussions related to the bioethics education in Taiwan in the future.
