The Impact of Medical Students' Academic Achievement, Student Club Participation, and Meaning of Life on Depression and Anxiety in Taiwan

摘要


Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the correlation of medical students' academic achievement, student club participation, the meaning of life and their depression and anxiety. Methods: The participants are medical students of Chang Gung University in Taiwan. The research questionnaire combined with "The Life Meaning Scale", "Zeng's Mental Health Scale". Results: The results showed that the more anxiety mood is correlated with higher the academic pressure, lower the overall meaning of life, higher the suffering acceptance score and had experience of facing death. The more depression mood is correlated with lower overall meaning of life, higher suffering acceptance, higher academic pressure, higher the will to seek meaning, lower grade, and had student loan or scholarship. Conclusions: Suggestions are provided in accordance to the results and conclusions of the study: Provide assistance to students who have heavy academic workload. Provide ways for medical students to relieve pressure. Enhance courses related to life education.
