Applying the Grey Relational Grade to Evaluate Overseas Travel Market and Business Performances-A Case Study of Travel Agent A

So far, the evaluation of travel agent’s performances focuses on human resources and product satisfaction. There is no study on business performances. However, the travel agent belongs to the service industry and the main focus should be the property analysis of consumption age. Therefore, the paper used the grey relational grade in grey system theory to study the association of travel agent’s overseas travel market and business performances. Through the segment of ages, business evaluation and analysis can be made, and then suggestions of innovative transformation strategy of business performances can be proposed. First, a domestic travel agent in Taiwan’s turnover of 2015 overseas group tours was used as data analysis sample. According to the literature review, the indicators of factors affecting business performances can be established, which proposed to use age and turnover as performance indicators. Next, by using grey relational grade calculation, the importance of age toward business performances can be analyzed. Through comparing the business performance’s turnover, further performance and market analysis of the association can be made. According to the results, the order of the turnover of 2015 overseas group tours are: age 30-39, age 40-49, age 50-59, age 20-29, age 10-19, age 60-69 and age 0-9. Meanwhile, the order of the business performances are: age 30-39, age 40-49, age 50-59, age 20-29, age 60-69, age 10-19 and age 0-9. In both orders of performances, the results show that the top three turnovers of 2015 overseas group tours performances are: age 30-39, age 40-49, and age 50-59, and they are quite match. By using the grey relational grade, it is not only possible to evaluate performances and encourage operating performances as application development, but it can also be put forward to policy recommendations on operating performance in overseas travel market.
