Technetium-99m(V)-DMSA Scintigraphy in the Assessment of Lymphoma Patients: A Negative Study

背景鎝(V)-99m-DMSA和67Ga枸櫞酸鈉相似為一種新的腫瘤檢查試劑,不僅被用於偵測多種的惡性腫瘤且可用來診斷某些發炎性疾病。本篇研究的目的在於比較鎝(V)99m-DMSA和67Ga-枸櫞酸鈉對於診斷淋巴瘤病人的可用性。 方法15位未經治療的惡性淋巴瘤病人(9位男性與6位女性,年齡由24歲至87歲)其中3位是何杰金氏淋巴瘤(Hodgkin's lymphoma)、11位是非何杰金氏淋巴瘤(non-Hodgkin's lymphoma)而另一位則是MALToma。所有病人都先接受了全身性鎝(V)99m-DMSA腫瘤造影檢查,3天至4天後再接受的Ga-枸櫞酸鈉腫瘤造影檢查。 結果所有病人的Ga-枸櫞酸鈉腫瘤造影檢查都是陽性;然而鎝(V)-99m-DMSA腫瘤造影檢查卻沒有發現任何病灶。 結論鎝(V)-99m-DMSA和67 Ga-枸櫞酸鈉相比雖然二者都可用於偵測某些惡性或發炎疾病,然而對於偵察淋巴瘤而言鎝(V)99m-DMSA沒有臨床可用性。

Background. Pentavalent 99mTc-dimercaptosuccinic acid (99mTc(V)-DMSA) is a new tumor imaging agent which has been used to detect not only various malignant tumors, but also some inflammatory diseases in competition with gallium-67 citrate (67Ga). This study was undertaken to compare the value of using 99mTc(V)-DMSA and 67Ga in lymphoma patients. Methods. This study included 15 patients (9 men and 6 women ranging in age from 24 to 87 years) With untreated malignant lymphoma (3 with Hodgkin's lymphoma, 11 with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and one with MALToma). A whole body 99mTc(V)-DMSA scan was initially obtained from all patients. Subsequently, a comparative whole-body 67Ga scan was performed 3-4 days apart. Results.67Ga scan was positive in all lymphoma patients; however, no lesions were detected by 99mTc(V)-DMSA scan. Conclusions. 99mTc(V)-DMSA scan is of no clinical value for the detection of lymphoma, although it can detect some other malignant or inflammatory diseases.
