The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics and problems of Taiwan's middle & high-level Japanese learners' letters of request, which are written to request for job placement. The results turned out that the usages of Taiwan's middle & high-level Japanese learners have the following cultural differences; (1) They express their expectations and requirements too directly and clearly, (2) failed to use the communication strategies in Japanese styles, such as to show their modesty and humbleness for causing others' inconvenience and then apologize to those who are requested. The different communication strategies because of culture difference impress the native Japanese speakers with ”impolite” or ”discourteousness” negatively. Therefore, Taiwan's middle & high-level Japanese learners need to focus more on the learning and perception of the Japanese styles of thinking, the Japanese social consensus and the Japanese strategies on request to maintain good interpersonal relationship and good interaction or approval from those who are requested when they have the request on them.
