Due to flourishing globalization in recent years, the trend of economic localization has become more evident. Rising Cross-Strait exchanges and interaction has left undeniable impact on Taiwan's economic security. Since the ”mini-three-links” in the beginning of 2001, the economic interdependence between Kinmen and Xiamen has affected economic development of Kinmen tremendously. Based on a questionnaire survey on Kinmen residents, this study analyzes their perception of the policy impact on local economy. Results indicated that the mini-three-links contribute to Kinmen's economic growth and impaired its economic independence. It is suggested that incremental economic integration between Kinmen and Xiamen is recommended, while excessive dependence on China's market must be avoided.
