The events of festivals embed in people's everyday life and deeply reflect human's historic tracks. Yet, as time goes by, the meaning of festivals swings between traditional morality and social demand of entertainment, and has been gradually transformed to hedonistic events. This study applies Hedonism from ancient Greek Epicurus as the theoretic core to compare traditional and modern forms of festivals. It discloses the concept of hedonism, and interpret the relationship among hedonism, leisure, and modern festivals. According to literatures, the idea of hedonism always exists, but confronts continuing reorganization and recreation resulted from different generation engagements.
