This study aimed to explore the effects of lifestyle intervention and application of cloud technology assistance on patients with type 2 pre-diabetes. We reviewed and discussed literature related to type 2 pre-diabetes, including applications of life style interventions, management of the risk factors, and assistance by cloud technologies. It would be helpful to the authorities and the investigators in developing treatment methods and systems suitable for patients with type 2 diabetes in Taiwan. Treatments of dietary changes, suitable exercise, weight loss, lifestyle management, blood glucose and complications control for pre-diabetes patients may effectively reduce or delay the deterioration from pre-diabetes to type 2 diabetes. In addition, an internet-based blood glucose monitoring system can improve the quality of blood glucose control and reduce the manpower costs in health care. The assistance of cloud technologies seemed to be useful for the caregivers in improving efficacy and quality of health management of the patients. We suggest that the development of a health system for people with type 2 diabetes is important in both clinical and research-based domains.
