The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effect of perceived stress and coping on motivation and behaviors of involvement in sport parent. A total of 640 parents of competitive athletes were selected through purposive sampling. There were 218 fathers and 422 mothers; the average age was 42.0 years old. Data analysis involved hierarchical regression to test the moderating effect of parents’ perceived stress and coping response on their motivation and behaviors of involvement. The results showed that motivation of parent involvement and perceived stress and coping response could explain 29% of the variation in parent involvement behaviors. After controlling for the main effect, the interaction between motivation of parent involvement and perceived stress and coping can increase the involvement behaviors variation by 3%. This showed that perceived stress and coping had a moderating effect on motivation and behaviors of parental involvement. This study concludes that: perceived stress and coping had a significant moderating effect on "pursuing remuneration," "self-verification," and "sport achievement expectation," all of which were part of motivation and behaviors of involvement. Based on the main results of this study, it is recommended that future researchers continue to pay attention to whether there are other moderators in the relationship between motivation and behaviors of parental involvement, so as to provide specific suggestions for parental participation in competitive sports.
