This report describes a intensive nursing care experience for a patient with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The nursing period was from March 24 to 30, 2009. Data were collected by means of direct patient care, observation, discussion, chart review, and patient interaction. With the application of Gordon's 11 Health Function Pattern Appraisal for patient assessment, the three identified major nursing problems were lack of motivation for wellness, dysfunction of myocardial perfusion, and sleep disturbance. The nursing care plans including individualized self-care post AMT, cardiac rehabilitation assistance, and minimized disturbances at night. This article may be used as a reference for those who care for patients after AMI.
