Study on Soft Ground Structure in The Mekong Delta Coastal Province, Viet Nam for Embankment Construction
摘要
The paper presents the properties of soft ground structure in the Mekong Delta coastal provinces in Vietnam for selection and designing of soil improvement. Each type of soft ground structure is actually considered as a model to calculate and design soil improvement. On the properties of soft soil, hydrogeology and stratigraphy, soft ground structure can be divided into different structural units (types and sub-types). In the Mekong Delta coastal provinces, there are 2 types (type I and type II) and 5 sub-types (sub-type I.a, sub-type I.b, sub-type I.c, sub-type II.b and sub-type II.c). For each type and sub-type, the time of consolidation, and the secondary compression settlement of soft soil are analyzed and forecasted. Each of type or sub-type is suitable for some methods of soil improvement. These results can be used for proposing and calculating the method of soil improvement to construct embankment in the soft soil.
