試論《背海的人》隱含之宗教意涵

摘要

《背海的人》一書隱含王文興對於命運的關注，以及對於無神論的知識份子之揶揄，由宗教面來看，是一部暗藏著有神論者的觀點，去書寫無神論者視角的小說。以王文興創作背景理念為輔助，從其訪問稿、散記當中所透露的宗教觀念，再對照文本主角的爺之發展脈絡，自可以發現爺的悲劇色彩之軌跡，是有著西方基督教體系對過度強調人本主義的無神論者之質疑，另外也反映了部分台灣宗教（精神信仰層面）落實於人間（實踐層面）產生的弊端。藉由背海一詞，王文興極度的擴張了主角爺的「背離人群」與「邊緣化」之特質，至於揶揄的技巧則使得爺的言行變得可笑卻又令人可悲。在此篇論文當中，筆者試圖藉由爬梳小說文本所指涉的宗教意涵，來與作者宗教觀與寫作策略作一探究。尤其對於發展為極致人本主義的「無神論」者之敗亡，更是王文興此部小說當中，表現宗教意涵的關鍵重點。

Wang Wen-Hsin, the author of ＂Backed against the Sea＂, shows his concern for the destiny and teases the intellectual who are atheism through the book. From a religious perspective, the book is about the atheism's perspective but hiding a view of the theist. We can find out Wang Wen-Hsin's view on religion by reading his interviews and manuscripts. Thus, we can realize why the character, Yei, has a tragic fate and find out Christianity questions the atheism who overemphasizes humanism and the abuses of Taiwan's religion in this book. Wang Wen-Hsin uses the phrase ＂against the sea＂ to emphasize Yei's peculiarity of marginalizing and makes Yei become ridiculous by writing in a teasing way. In this thesis, I try to investigate the author's writing policy by comparing the religious implications in this book and author's view on religion. However, the most important religious point in this book is the ruin of atheism.
