摘要

光緒三十一年（1905年），時年四十六歲的鄭孝胥正式離開龍州，結束了為期近三年的廣西邊防督辦一職。同年年末藉（除夕）一詩「回首三年舊風味，清狂減盡祇傷神」總結自己過去三年於龍州的邊防生活，雖然贏得了「鄭龍州」的美名，卻也使他意識到官場中無法盡如人意的現實。在離去龍州的這十多年中，用世心極強的他卻數度棄官。然而，其在日記中曾載：「吾今年四十六，得棄官歸田……。從此以後，若中國迄無振興之日，則終老山林，不失為潔身去亂之士；倘竟有豪傑再起，必將求我。雖埋頭十年，至五十六歲出任天下大事，依然如初日方昇，照耀一世。」這段沉潛隱居的日子，並非全出於失意，還包含了養晦，為了往後的豪傑再起預積能量。民國十二年，溥儀召其入京議事，再次迎來了鄭孝胥人生的巔峰。本文嘗試探討鄭孝胥沉潛的這段日子，如何化解龍州時期的失意，並在往後與溥儀共事的這段日子積累自身能力。

At the age of 46, Zheng Xiaoxu officially left Longzhou, ending his three-year career as the Guangxi Supervise of frontier defence in 1905. At the end of the same year, by a poem, he concluded his life in Longzhou for the past three years-although being praised as ＂Zheng Longzhou＂, it also made him realize that not everything is ideal in officialdom. During more than a decade after he left Longzhou, the man with ambition had been declining to be an official. However, he once mentioned in his diary that ＂I am at the age of 46, giving up being an official and returning back to fields. From now on, if China could not revival, I'd rather rot in the woods. At least I could be regarded as someone with integrity; if there are heroes arising, they must ask for my help. Although I start reclusion for ten years, I could still arise like a sun and shine upon the earth at 56.＂ These reclusion days were not only because of frustration, but to recharge (recharge for the potential offspring). In 1923, again Zheng Xiaoxu reached another peak of his life as Pu Yi summon him to Beijing to provide wisdom. This essay aims to discuss the life of Zheng Xiaoxu's reclusion, how he resolved the frustration during the period of Longzhou, and how he accumulated abilities later when he worked together with Pu Yi.
