The threat of the dengue virus covers a wide area throughout tropical and subtropical regions. No effective treatment for dengue illness exists other than supportive care. The use of safe and effective vaccines is considered the cost effective way to prevent dengue diseases. This review summarizes the only approved dengue vaccine development and the current status of other dengue vaccines in clinical evaluation.
