Biceps, triceps, subscapular, chest, midaxillary, abdomen, suprailiac, thigh, and media calf skinfolds were measured by Lange skinfold caliper (Lange corp., Cambridge, Maryland, U.S.) in 50 male college students. percent body fat were also measured by two newly portable simple BIA analyzer Tanita TBF-501 (Tanita corp., Tokyo) and Omron HBF-300 (Omron corp., Kyoto). We also got the Anthropometry data (Body mass index (BMl), waist-to-hip ratio) for assessment of obesity and in comparison with one Japanese, two American, and two European skinlold prediction equations. The results revealed that European skinfold prediction equation (use biceps, triceps, subscapular, and suprailiac 4 measure sites to predict percent body fat) created by Durnin & Womer sly and another European formula (use BMI to predict percent body fat) created by Deurenberg, Weststrate, and Seidell are applicable and good for prediction in Taiwan male college students, whereas Japanese and American formula are not applicable, It needs further study to take evidence in confirmation of this result. There was no significant difference between percent body fat measured by Tanita TBF -501 and Omron HBF -300 (paired-samples t= -1.36, P> .05), but highly correlation was found (r=0.83, P< .001). In assessment of obesity these two instruments had shown fair association, the Kappa agreement coefficient was .44 (P 之.001).
