This paper proposes a human vision based system for data compression. It is a block truncation coding based system called visual block pattern truncation coding (VBPTC) for still image compression. VBPTC use human visual characteristics to enhance reconstructed image quality and reduce mean square error. Four still images are used as simulation results. Experimental results show that the algorithm increases the compression ratio and decrease error.
