Onion cv. 'CAL 606' was used in this experiment. It was to survey the bulb growth of onions after transplanting, with two plug tray size(128 and 288 cells) and different number of plants per cell(one, two and three). The results showed that bulb weight, bulb diameter and percentage of large bulbs from seedlings of 128 cells per tray were greater than those grown in 288 cells after transplanting. Bulb ratios of onions grown from different plug tray size were not significantly different. As the number of plants per cell increased from one to three, the bulb diameter decreased, but the L/D ratio increased as the number of plants per cell increased. There were no differences in bulb weight, bulb neck diameter, bulb ratio and percentage of large bulbs between different number of plants per cell.
