兔眼藍莓品種改良

Breeding Rabbiteye Blueberries

摘要


兔眼藍莓(Vaccinium ashei)為商業栽培藍莓種類之一,原生於美國東南方之六倍體且高度自交不親和的落葉性灌木。現今主要兔眼藍莓品種亦多源自美國。常見之兔眼藍莓育種目標性狀為產量、果實品質、成熟期與樹冠結構。兔眼藍莓育種包含兩方向,其一為新品種育成,另一方向為族群改良。前者藉由人為選拔法、自然授粉、人工授粉雜交法及驗證雜交法(proven-cross method),而後者透過輪迴選種(recurrent selection)達成。近年育成之較受矚目的新品種有早熟之‘Vernon ’與‘Prince ’與半矮性品種‘DeSoto ’,但其親本仍多侷限於早期舊有品種。未來除再度自野生族群中引入優良基因外,可藉種間雜交與分子育種技術,進一步改良兔眼藍莓。國立臺灣大學自2009年起開始兔眼藍莓品種改良工作,目前由自然授粉實生苗中選拔出優良植株進行性狀調查及品系試驗中。

The rabbiteye blueberry (Vaccinium ashei) is one of the major commercial cultivated blueberries. It is a hexaploid and highly self-incompatible deciduous shrubs originated in the southeast USA. General breeding objectives for rabbiteye blueberries include yield, fruit quality, ripening date, and plant architecture. Improvement of rabbiteye blueberries involves two directions. One is to create new cultivars by open pollination, hand hybridization, and proven-crossing. The other is to improve populations by recurrent selection. Examples of new cultivars in recent years are 'Vernon' and 'Prince', which are early-ripening, and 'DeSoto', which is semi-dwarf. Most parents of them confines to old cultivars. In addition to introduction of new genetic resources from wild plants, interspecific hybridization and molecular breeding technology will be of helpfulness on future improvement of rabbiteye blueberries. The first official rabbiteye blueberry breeding program was initiated in Taiwan University in 2009. Several potential candidates from open pollinated seedlings have been selected and are currently undergoing multiplication for field trials.
