This study assesses nurses' inservice education requirements in the surgical intensive care unit (SICU). This study distributed 39 questionnaires and analyzed 35 questionnaires in the first stage; 39 questionnaires were distributed and 34 questionnaires were analyzed in the second stage. D_base3 and Systat (5.0) were employed to analyze data. The findings demonstrated that nurses rated knowledge related to critical care as the most important topic by Nurses at level I and II. The nurses at level III considered technology updates and how to write a case study the most critical topics. Moreover, some of them preferred to have classes related to nursing management and administration. Level IV nurses preferred knowledge related to organization, planning and administration; some of them suggested adding a panel discussion related to crisis intervention and accident management. An inservice education program for SICU different ladder level's nurses was developed based on the findings of this study.
