電動輪椅操控訓練的虛擬實境環境

The Virtual Reality Environment for Power Wheelchair Driving Training

摘要


電動輪椅的使用有助於動作障礙者的行動能力,以改善動作障礙者日常活動的獨立性。然而電動輪椅操控不良易造成人員及器材的損傷。對於電動輪椅的使用者來說,實施安全而有效的電動輪椅操控訓練是非常重要的。虛擬實境為一模擬現實的環境,可提供練習而不易造成實質的傷害。虛擬實境做為電動輪椅操控訓練的界面,可增加障礙者練習的動機,並藉由難易度調整,逐漸提高使用者在操控輪椅的熟練度與自信心,並減少碰撞等意外發生。文獻顯示在虛擬環境中進行電動輪椅操控訓練,可有效提升操控技巧,且電動輪椅操控練習成效在虛擬實境和實際環境有很高的相關性。因此,本篇以虛擬環境的軟體、硬體及訓練內容來比較分析現有的虛擬環境建構之各種方式。總結而言,以投射式三維虛擬環境顯示,配合幾何式建構之虛擬實境,並輔以不同難易度之階段分級設計,可發展出一適合操控電動輪椅訓練的虛擬環境。

Background and purpose: Power wheelchair can increase the mobility and improve the independence of people with physical disabilities in daily life. However, insufficient driving skills of power wheelchair users may cause injury and equipment damage. Therefore, power wheelchair driving training with safety and effectiveness is very important. Virtual reality (VR) is a simulator of training environment and can enable people to practice the driving skills without inducing actual injuries. VR could be an interface of power wheelchair control training to increase the power wheelchair user's motivation of practice. By adjusting the level of difficulty in VR, wheelchair users can improve their control proficiency and self-confidence, and reduce collisions and other accidents. Studies have indicated that power wheelchair driving training using VR could improve driving skills significantly, and the training effects in VR are associated with what is found in the real world. Therefore, we analyzed the software, hardware, and the training contents to discuss the construction of VR environment relevant to power wheelchair driving training. In summary, the combination of geometry-based VR with 3D projection display, supplemented by difficulty adjustment design, can provide a VR environment suitable for power wheelchair training.
