物理治療實習生之學習類型與問題導向學習表現相關性探討

The Correlation of Learning Style and the Performance of Problem-Based Learning in the Internship of Physical Therapy

摘要


背景與目的:過去研究發現學習類型會影響學生學術成就、臨床操作表現及教師教學傾向。本研究目在探討物理治療實習生的學習類型與臨床實習期間執行問題導向學習(problem-based learning, PBL)表現的相關性。方法:研究針對中部某醫學中心之物理治療實習生執行6週PBL課程,並評估其學習類型傾向與PBL成效表現。結果:研究共有44位高教及技職體系實習學生參與,參與學生學習類型的分布中,有一半以上的學生屬於省思者類型(59.1%),其次為實用者類型(20.5%)。各學習類型分數與PBL表現之相關性分析結果顯示,實用者類型分別與PBL整體學習表現分數、團隊工作效能、PBL學習技巧、溝通領導能力、及科學懷疑態度等面向呈中等到高度的顯著相關;省思者及理論者類型也分別與這些面向呈中等之顯著的相關。結論:不同的學習類型皆有其個別學習的優略勢,因此未來在進行PBL教學模式前,應針對不同學習類型的學生進行不足面向的補強或學習角色的輔導,使不同的學生能在PBL模式中有更有效的學習成效。

Background and Purpose: The learning style may affect the performance of student both in academic and clinical skill. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between the learning style and the performance of problem-based learning (PBL) in the internship of physical therapy. Methods: The study recruited 44 interns of physical therapy who were from different educational systems in medical center in Taichung. The learning style and the performance of PBL were evaluated before and after 6-week PBL course, respectively. Results: The most preferred learning style was Reflector (59.1%), and followed by Pragmatist (20.5%). The students with preferred pragmatist moderately to highly correlated to the total score of the self-evaluation PBL performance and the categories of "effectiveness in group work", "ability to master the PBL method", "communication skills", "scientific curiosity". The Reflector also showed moderate correlation with those categories. Conclusions: Students with various preferred learning styles showed different strengths and weaknesses, and educator should help students to adapt to the teaching strategy before implementation of PBL course for maximizing student learning.
