Archery emphasizes the stability of an individual. The archer needs to maintain stability and balance from the stretch to the arrow which enable arrow to fly toward the center of the bullseye in order to achieve an excellent score performance. The purpose of this study was to analyze and investigate the effect of arch support insoles on the performance and stability of the shoulder joint of compound archers when shooting at a target distance of 30 m. Fifteen elite compound archers from college archery teams were recruited as subjects. The test was divided into front and back tests. Subjects wore arch support insoles to adapt to the back after 4 weeks. The acceleration sensor was used to measure the triaxial acceleration at the shoulder joint of the right hand of archer. The average arrow score value of the archery was used as data of the athletic performance, and the differences in shoulder joint stability and athletic performance of subjects shooting archery insoles and arch support insoles were analyzed. The results of this study showed that: (1) Wearing arch support insoles significantly improved the score of the average arrow value compared to wearing flat insoles. (2) Wearing arch support insoles reduced the acceleration of X-axis of the right acromion. (3) There was a negative correlation between the acceleration of Z-axis of the right acromion and score of arrow value of the archery. Our findings conclude that wearing arch support insole can increase the scoring arrow value, and improve the stability of the front and rear direction (X-axis) of the upper limbs during the arrow release process. The score has a negative relationship with the Z-axis, which indicates decreased downward acceleration of the right shoulder joint. It is inferred that the stability of the archer can be greater when archer releases the arrow after wearing the arch support insole. Increasing stability may increase the density of arrow strikes, indirectly affect the value of scoring arrows, and has practical value for archery training.
