Social/Pragmatic Language Intervention with Young Children

Research on young children's social/pragmatic language disorders is reviewed and the Emergentist Pragmatics (EP) model is presented as a multi-dimensional framework for clinical intervention. The increased complexity of multi-dimensional models such as EP for clinical program planning includes expanded intervention goals, intervention methodologies, and the increased inclusion of peers and parents as intervention agents. The implications of this increased complexity are discussed.
