Global Competence: Clinical Implications for Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists

The purpose of this paper is to introduce the concept of global competence and the need for speech, language and hearing professionals to continue to develop their clinical competence which includes global competence in order to provide adequate clinical services. Definitions of global competence will be discussed. Further, it delineates the clinical implications for global competence for SLPs and Audiologists. Suggestions for providing optimal learning environment will be provided.
