摘要

本文探討20世紀協和醫學院出身的菁英生涯發展與生平貢獻，特別聚焦於隨著國府播遷來臺的軍醫人員。首先，就其漂洋過海從事醫學教育、醫療實務、戰傷研究、軍民防疫、社會責任等面向加以重新考察；其次，再比較分析他們如何有別於滯留中國大陸的協和校友，一方面發揮認真負責、團隊合作、無私奉獻、追求卓越的傳統協和精神，一方面有效結合國際醫藥經費及物品之援助，讓美式醫療文化在戰後臺灣生根茁壯；最後，本文將深切討論昔日協和光榮的使命精神，對於醫學教育正待改革的現今環境，提供未來一個清新不俗的重要參考價值之可能。

The study is to explore career developments and life contributions of the elite graduated of Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) in the 20^(th) century, particularly focusing on the military surgeons who moved to Taiwan with the ROC government. The first purpose of the study is to re-inspect the aspects of medical educational work, medical practices, wartime injury studies, epidemic prevention between military and civilians, and social responsibility after they came from Mainland China across the Taiwan Straits. The second purpose of this study is to compare and analyze what the differences were among the PUMC alumni who stayed in Mainland China: on the one hand, they brought the traditional spirit of PUMC, such as conscientiousness, teamwork, dedication and pursuing excellence into full play; on the other hand, they effectively integrated the international aid of medical funds and goods, so that the American medical culture could root and thrive in Taiwan during the post-wartime. Finally, the study will thoroughly discuss the glorious mission and spirit of PUMC in the past, and will provide a fresh and important reference, of value in the current medical education environment. The historical study can inform current medical educators' efforts at improvements.
