以英文期刊為學術目的研究國際化的得與失

Gains and Losses of Research International in the Journal of English for Academic Purposes

摘要


最近幾年英文期刊由社會科學索引(SSCI)或自然科學索引(SCI)變成很受台灣學術界歡迎的著作,在許多大學,不管是博士班學生或教師都被鼓勵就他們的研究發現投稿到所謂SSCI或SCI的期刊,那些出版SSCI或SCI期刊愈多的學者愈能夠得到研究獎助或是申請國科會的計劃,除此之外,他們在升等上積分更高,然而這樣教育政策在某些方面值得慎思考其負面之地方,這項研究最主要是去討論考社會科學中特別是教育管理的SSCI的學術績效衡量,一般在台灣社會科學教師都會被鼓勵發表SSCI,同樣是社會科學,在藝術或中文領域是較困難發表SSCI,第二是SSCI或SCI的期刊反映了英美的主流價值文化,亞洲文化價值受到漠示。第三是大學教師或博士班角色平衡及定位需重新思考,這篇文章提供了對這項政策的思考。

Academic journals indexed with SSCI (social science citation index) or SCI (social science index) have became very popular in Taiwan in recent years. In many universities, academicians such as doctorate students and teachers were strongly encouraged to submit papers that contain their research findings to journals which are indexed with SSCI or SCI. Those who have a large amount of papers accepted/published in SSCI SCI journals are more likely to support research grants from research councils for their research projects. In addition, they are more likely to have promotions in their career positions. However, such a policy appears to result in disadvantages that are worthy being considered seriously. First, result findings arising from some subjects related to social sciences, such as foreign languages and arts, are less likely to be published in SSCI or SCI journals. SSCI or SCI journals reflect the mainstream thought of the U.K. and U.S.A., so academic values of other Asian countries are not well presented. Second, the role of ducation is also misunderstood.
