The purpose of this research was to study the influence of mindfulness meditation on the fourth grade elementary school students' ability to concentrate. This study was a quasi-experimental design with subjects of 50 4th grade students in New Taipei City, with 25 in experimental group and 25 in the control group. The experimental group participated in mindfulness meditation activities for three months but the control group did not. Outcome measure: Multidimensional Attention Test was used to evaluate the children's attention before and after the intervention. The data were analyzed with repeated measure ANOYA. The results revealed following findings: after mindfulness meditation training, the students had significantly higher scores than those who were in the control group. Meditation helped the elementary school students enhance the ability of sustained attention.
