Negative-pressure pulmonary edema (NPPE), a rare clinical entity, occurs when marked negative intrathoracic pressure is generated against an obstructed airway, causing fluid to shift into the pulmonary interstitium. It commonly involves young, healthy male patients undergoing general anesthesia. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment are important to enhance recovery and prevent complications. We report a 19-year-old healthy male who developed NPPE after minor orthopedic surgery. He received supportive treatment and recovered well.
