Application of Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) and Critical Path Method (CPM) in the Creation of Clinical Pathway: Pulmonary Lobectomy Model

Healthcare management pay more and more attention on new tools for planning and managing clinical processes. The clinical pathway, which design and document the process in the industry, has been widely applied in the healthcare system. However, the other common tools used in industries to perform the process design, the Program evaluation and review technique (PERT) and critical path method (CPM), have not migrated to he healthcare system. In this article, we will present the principles and the applications of PERT/CPM in the field of clinical process (lobectomy for lung carcinoma model).
