160 table-tennis players who plated in the 2002 annual Taiwan college union championship tournament were received in this study. The results showed that prevalence of sport-related injuries in Division One and Two were 77.5% and 76.25% respectively. Inadequate warm-up has been reported to be the main reasons of these injuries. For the male athletes, the part of the body exposed to injury most frequently is arm-muscle due to overstretch. The elite group and the school-team group experienced 50% and 37.5% arm-muscle injury, respectively. For the elite female athletes, the injuries occurred most often in the ankles (45%), while for the school-team athletes the main injuries took place in shoulder (22.5%) and arm-muscle (22.5%). We hope this report will provide some helpful information to reduce or to avoid some of the injuries in the future table tennis exercises. It is suggested that a complete warm-up of most often injured part of the body shown in the survey should be emphasized in their respective group during the table tennis competition and regular training.
