The main objective of this research was to explore the differences of using Technique Approach (TA) and Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) in teaching Futsal. The subjects of this study were 34 male Ming Chuan University (MCU) students who were juniors and took soccer in their physical education class during the Spring semester of 2006. Before instruction, a Futsal was held. Groups were divided based on the result. The subjects were divided into two teaching groups by using Heterogeneous Grouping Way, namely, TGfU team and TA team, seventeen students per group. For a period of eight weeks, each group was given two-hour experimental teaching of Futsal every week. The results were analyzed using two-way ANOVA to study the different effects by using these two teaching methods. The research results show that there was a significant difference between the pre and post tests (F=60.08, p<.05). The result of the post-test (M=2.16±.94) was superior to the pre-test (M=.85±.24). However, the game scores did not show a significant difference (F=.47, p>.05) by using two different teaching methods in teaching Futsal. It shows, after instruction, there were positive results in the tests by using the two teaching methods. This study suggests that using appropriate and effective teaching method and sufficient stimulation will have a positive and significant effect on the learning result.
