Moltmann-Wendel's "I Am My Body" and Embodied Knowledge of Disability

Theology of Disability suggests that the embodied experience and knowledge of people with disability are able to contribute to the emancipated goal of the disability right movement. This essay argues that the discussion of body theology that Moltmann-Wendel proposes in her ”I am my body” can be considered an insightful resource for the reflection of Disability Studies and the disability movement, especially her contextualization of body as a sensual body, political body and ecological body. This essay also discusses John Hull's experiences of becoming blind in order to demonstrate how the embodied experiences of disability become a route for social critique and cultural transformation.
